Rockies 3B Atkins out again

May 26, 2008 - 10:27 PM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Colorado Rockies third baseman Garrett Atkins will miss Monday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies due to a stiff neck.

It marks the third straight day that Atkins, Colorado's leader in batting average and RBI, will be sidelined. Atkins also was out of the lineup for games Saturday and Sunday against the New York Mets.

Atkins, 28, is batting .338 with eight homers and 30 RBI this season for the defending National League champion Rockies, who have struggled to a 20-30 record over their first 50 games.

Colorado will start Jeff Baker at third base Monday against the Phillies.

The injury-plagued Rockies already are without slugger Matt Holliday, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, outfielder Brad Hawpe and infielder Clint Barmes.
