Johnson ties Clemens on strikeout list
May 30, 2008 - 4:01 AM PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Arizona Diamondbacks lefthander Randy Johnson climbed into a tie for second place on the all-time strikeout list in Thursday's game against the San Francisco Giants.Johnson pulled even with Roger Clemens when he retired leadoff hitter Dan Ortmeier in the seventh inning for his 4,672nd career strikeout. The 6-10 southpaw left the contest after the seventh with nine strikeouts.
Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan is the all-time leader with 5,714 strikeouts.
