Griffey again not in starting lineup

Jun 3, 2008 - 9:47 PM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- For the second straight night, Ken Griffey Jr. is not in the Cincinnati Reds' starting lineup.

One homer shy of reaching 600 for his career, Griffey also sat out Monday's series opener against Philadelphia for what manager Dusty Baker called "general soreness."

On Saturday at Great American Ballpark, the 38-year-old Griffey hit his 599th career home run against the Atlanta Braves.

Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays and Sammy Sosa are the only players in baseball history to surpass 600 homers.
