Griffey in Reds' lineup

Jun 5, 2008 - 4:59 PM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Cincinnati Reds outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. is in the starting lineup for Thursday afternoon's game against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Griffey, who is one home run shy of reaching 600 for his career, had not been in Cincinnati's lineup for any of the first three contests of this four-game series.

According to Reds manager Dusty Baker, the 38-year-old Griffey has been sidelined due to "general soreness." But Griffey will bat third Thursday against Phillies lefthander Cole Hamels.

On Saturday at Great American Ballpark, Griffey belted his 599th career home run against the Atlanta Braves.

Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays and Sammy Sosa are the only players in baseball history to surpass 600 career homers.
