Padres place 2B Iguchi on DL
Jun 6, 2008 - 10:39 PM SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- One day after separating his right shoulder, second baseman Tadahito Iguchi was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the San Diego Padres on Friday.Iguchi suffered the injury in the seventh inning of Thursday's 2-1 victory over the New York Mets. While running from second base to third, the 33-year-old was attempting to avoid a line drive off the bat of Kevin Kouzmanoff.
However, the ball struck Iguchi in the right leg, and he fell to the ground, landing on his shoulder.
In 59 games this season, Iguchi is hitting .259 with two home runs and 20 RBI.
To replace Iguchi on the roster, the Padres recalled infielder Craig Stansberry from Class AAA Portland of the Pacific Coast League. The 26-year-old posted a .232 average with four homers and 19 RBI in 51 games with Portland.
San Diego also activated righthander Clay Hensley from the 15-day DL and optioned him to Portland. Hensley had been sidelined with a strained right shoulder since March 21.
