Giants' Durham reaches 2,000 hits
Jun 12, 2008 - 8:46 PM DENVER (Ticker) -- San Francisco Giants second baseman Ray Durham collected his 2,000th career hit against the Colorado Rockies on Thursday.Durham, 36, grounded a single up the middle off Colorado starter Greg Reynolds in the fourth inning to reach the milestone. The hit drove in two runs, giving San Francisco an 8-4 lead.
A 14-year veteran, Durham entered the contest with 1,998 hits before his single in the third put him one shy of the achievement. The Charlotte, North Carolina native entered Thursday's game with a career .277 average along with 188 homers and 849 RBI in 1,907 games with the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics and Giants.
