Sabathia named AL Player of the Week
Jun 16, 2008 - 6:51 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Cleveland Indians lefthander C.C. Sabathia on Monday was named the American League Player of the Week.Sabathia went 2-0 with a 1.59 ERA in two starts last week. The reigning Cy Young Award winner went 17 innings, allowing just three runs with one walk and 15 strikeouts.
Other nominees considered were Sabathia's Indians teammate Grady Sizemore, New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and Boston Red Sox outfielder J.D. Drew.
