Blue Jays place RHP Marcum on DL
Jun 21, 2008 - 10:43 PM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Toronto Blue Jays placed righthander Shaun Marcum on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain prior to Saturday's interleague game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.Marcum, 26, allowed four runs and six hits in six innings of a 5-4 loss to Milwaukee on Wednesday. The four-year pro has been excellent for Toronto this season, posting a 5-4 mark with a 2.65 ERA in 15 starts.
It is the latest setback for the Blue Jays (35-40), who are mired in last place in the American League East and fired manager John Gibbons on Friday.
The Blue Jays recalled outfielder Adam Lind from Class AAA Syracuse of the International League to fill Marcum's roster spot.
