Tigers place C Inge on DL

Jun 25, 2008 - 7:36 PM DETROIT (Ticker) -- The Detroit Tigers on Wednesday placed catcher Brandon Inge on the 15-day disabled list with a pulled oblique muscle, retroactive to Monday.

Inge has played in only 52 games this season, batting just .215 with six homers and 23 RBI.

To replace Inge on the roster, the Tigers purchased the contract of catcher Dane Sardinha, a career minor leaguer, from Class AAA Toledo of the International League.

The 29-year-old Sardinha made a brief appearance for the Tigers last season, but was hitless in five at-bats. He hit .206 in 48 games at Toledo after batting only .202 for the Mud Hens in 2007.
