Orioles place RHP Albers on DL

Jun 26, 2008 - 7:29 PM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Baltimore Orioles on Thursday placed righthander Matt Albers on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.

Albers left Wednesday's start against the Chicago Cubs after allowing four runs while retiring only one batter. He is 3-3 with a 3.49 ERA in 28 appearances for the Orioles this season.

To take Albers' spot on the roster, Baltimore recalled righthander Fernando Cabrera from his rehab assignment

He posted a 0.69 ERA during his rehab assignment, allowing one run in 13 innings in 11 games. He struck out 13 and held opponents to a .229 batting average.

Signed by the Orioles as a free agent on August 27, 2007, Cabrera made nine appearances for the Orioles last

season, recording a 12.60 ERA. Overall, he is 6-6 with 4.94 ERA in 103 games for the Cleveland Indians and Orioles.
