Orioles place RHP Albers on DL
Jun 26, 2008 - 7:29 PM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Baltimore Orioles on Thursday placed righthander Matt Albers on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.Albers left Wednesday's start against the Chicago Cubs after allowing four runs while retiring only one batter. He is 3-3 with a 3.49 ERA in 28 appearances for the Orioles this season.
To take Albers' spot on the roster, Baltimore recalled righthander Fernando Cabrera from his rehab assignment
at Class AAA Norfolk. The 26-year-old began the season on the DL after undergoing offseason elbow surgery on his right elbow.
He posted a 0.69 ERA during his rehab assignment, allowing one run in 13 innings in 11 games. He struck out 13 and held opponents to a .229 batting average.
Signed by the Orioles as a free agent on August 27, 2007, Cabrera made nine appearances for the Orioles last
season, recording a 12.60 ERA. Overall, he is 6-6 with 4.94 ERA in 103 games for the Cleveland Indians and Orioles.
