Reds claim IF Phillips off waivers
Jul 3, 2008 - 8:44 PM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- The Cincinnati Reds on Thursday claimed infielder Andy Phillips off waivers from the New York Mets.Phillips, 31, batted .200 (1-for-5) in four games for New York before he was designated for assignment on Tuesday. He also hit .143 (3-for-21) with four RBI in 15 games for Cincinnati before also being designated for assignment on June 22.
A five-year veteran, Phillips has a career batting average of .248 with 11 homers and 48 RBI for the New York Yankees, Reds and Mets.
