HOUSTON (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers received some reinforcements Friday, activating infielder Nomar Garciaparra and outfielder Andruw Jones from the disabled list.

Garciappara has been on the DL since April 26 with a strained left calf, while Jones has been nursing a right knee injury and has been sidelined since May 25.

Garciaparra has played in just nine games this season, hitting .226 (7-for-31) with one home run and five RBI.

Jones, who signed a two-year, $36 million deal with the Dodgers in the offseason, is batting just .165 (22-for-133) with two home runs and seven RBI.

The duo combined to hit 9-for-16 this week with Class AAA Las Vegas. Jones, who was 4-for-8 during his rehab stint, homered for Las Vegas on Monday.

Garciaparra's return comes one day after shortstop Rafael Furcal underwent back surgery that likely will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season.

To make room for Garciaparra and Jones on the roster, the Dodgers optioned outfielder Jason Repko to Las Vegas and placed infielder Mark Sweeney on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

Repko failed to get a hit in seven at-bats since being recalled from Las Vegas on Monday, while Sweeney is batting just .094 with three RBI in 60 games.
