Brewers' Hardy earns weekly honors
Jul 7, 2008 - 7:06 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Milwaukee Brewers shortstop J.J. Hardy was named the National League Player of the Week on Monday.Hardy had a spectacular week, batting .600 (18-for-30) with six home runs and 12 RBI. He also had five doubles and eight runs scored.
During the week, Hardy had six multi-hit games and two multi-home run games. He had two blasts and four RBI in Sunday's 11-6 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Hardy is batting .295 with 12 home runs and 38 RBI this season.
Other nominees included Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier, Colorado Rockies outfielder Matt Holliday and San Diego Padres righthander Jake Peavy.
