Cardinals OF Duncan placed on DL
Jul 22, 2008 - 10:14 PM ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- The St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday placed outfielder Chris Duncan on the 15-day disabled list with a bulging disk in his neck.The Cardinals did not reveal when Duncan, 27, suffered the injury. The lefthanded slugger started in left field Tuesday night against the Milwaukee Brewers, going 0-for-3 with a walk.
Duncan is batting .248 with six homers and 27 RBI this season, his third full campaign with the Cardinals.
To replace Duncan on the roster, the Cardinals recalled outfielder Joe Mather from Class AAA Memphis. Mather appeared in 20 games with St. Louis earlier this season, batting .244 with two homers.
