Braves P Hudson injury not serious; Jones hopeful

Jul 24, 2008 - 9:52 PM ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Atlanta Braves righthander Tim Hudson said his elbow injury should not cause him to miss his next start, while Chipper Jones remains hopeful that he will not need a trip to the disabled list with his hamstring injury.

Both players left Wednesday's victory over the Florida Marlins early in the contest and will be re-evaluated on Friday when the team opens a series in Philadelphia against the Phillies.

Hudson left in the sixth inning after just 68 pitches but said his elbow should be fine.

"I don't foresee any problems unless I wake up tomorrow and can't move (my elbow)," Hudson said. "I don't foresee it being that big of a deal."

Jones was running out a groundout to third base and grabbed the hamstring in pain as he went past the bag at first.

Jones, who leads the major leagues with a .369 batting average, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he hopes to miss "a couple games" but would not rule out a trip to the disabled list.

"It's sore right now," Jones told the newspaper. "I don't know what the timetable's going to be. Hamstrings are a little more delicate than quads or groins."
