Diamondbacks 1B Jackson wins NL weekly award

Jul 28, 2008 - 6:58 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Conor Jackson was named the National League Player of the Week on Monday.

Jackson enjoyed a sizzling week in which he batted .542 (13-for-24) with three home runs and seven RBI. The 26-year-old is currently on a five-game multi-hit streak.

It is the second weekly award this season for Jackson, who is hitting .324 with 12 home runs and 55 RBI. He also won the award on April 21.

Other nominees for the honors this week included Arizona lefthander Randy Johnson, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun and Colorado Rockies righthander Ubaldo Jimenez.
