Rockies place OF Podsednik on DL
Jul 30, 2008 - 2:52 AM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Colorado Rockies placed Scott Podsednik on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday with a fractured left pinkie.Podsednik, a speedy reserve, suffered the injury during Sunday's 11-0 win in Cincinnati. The lefthanded outfielder is hitting .263 with 10 stolen bases in 75 games.
The Rockies purchased the contract of outfielder Cory Sullivan, who was hitting .306 with six home runs for Class-AAA Colorado Springs. Sullivan was Colorado's starting center fielder in 2005 and '06, but has spent much of the last two years in Colorado Springs since the acquisition of Willy Taveras.
RHP Alberto Arias was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
