Cardinals OF Ludwick earns weekly honors
Aug 4, 2008 - 7:17 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- St. Louis Cardinals All-Star outfielder Ryan Ludwick was named the National League Player of the Week on Monday.Ludwick batted .538 (14-for-26) with four home runs and eight RBI during the week. The 30-year-old went 4-for-4 with two home runs and three runs scored against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.
For the season, Ludwick is batting .306 with a career-high 27 homers and 78 RBI in 104 games.
Other nominees for the award included Phillies righthander Brad Lidge, Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder and Colorado Rockies outfielder Matt Holliday.
