Sabathia named NL Pitcher of the Month
Aug 4, 2008 - 8:09 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Milwaukee Brewers lefthander CC Sabathia was named the National League's Pitcher of the Month for July on Monday.Acquired from the Cleveland Indians on July 7, Sabathia has been brilliant since joining the Brewers, going 5-0 with a 1.88 ERA in six starts.
In five starts with the Brewers during the month of July, Sabathia went 4-0 with a 1.82 ERA. The hefty southpaw logged three consecutive complete games from July 13-23, allowing a total of just three runs over that span.
Others nominated for the award were Colorado's Ubaldo Jimenez, New York's Oliver Perez and Chicago's Carlos Zambrano.
