Yankees C Rodriguez leaves game

Aug 7, 2008 - 5:03 AM ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) -- New York Yankees catcher Ivan Rodriguez left Wednesday's 5-3 victory over the Texas Rangers in the second inning with a bruised knee. He is listed as day-to-day.

Rodriguez sustained the injury during a collision at home plate with Texas' David Murphy, who also left the game with a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

"I knew I had to prepare to get hit, and that's what I did," said Rodriguez, who was walking with a limp. "I'm glad we got the out and ended the inning. I'm glad (my knee is) OK. It's a deep bruise, and we'll take it day-to-day."

Acquired by the Yankees on Thursday, Rodriguez is batting .291 with six home runs and 33 RBI on the season.
