Tigers OF Sheffield ejected
Aug 14, 2008 - 2:43 AM DETROIT (Ticker) -- Detroit Tigers outfielder Gary Sheffield was ejected in the seventh inning of Wednesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays for arguing balls and strikes.The subject of much controversy this week for his outspoken feelings on a limited role for Jim Leyland's club, Sheffield was placed on waivers on Tuesday.
The 39-year-old was 0-for-2 with a walk prior to being ejected by home plate umpire Fieldin Culbreth . He is hitting .222 with 12 homers and 35 RBI in 79 games this season.
