Rockies place LHP Fuentes on bereavement list
Aug 26, 2008 - 11:27 PM SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- The Colorado Rockies placed closer Brian Fuentes on the bereavement list prior to Tuesday's game against the San Francisco Giants.Fuentes, 33, is 1-4 with 26 saves and a 2.73 ERA in 57 games this season. The lefthander has converted 13 straight saves.
To replace Fuentes on the roster, the Rockies recalled righthander Steven Register from Class AAA Colorado Springs of the Pacific Coast League.
The 25-year-old Register made his major league debut earlier this month, striking out the only batter he faced in a 9-4 loss to the Washington Nationals on August 4.
