Dodgers activate Wade, designate Sturtze

Aug 28, 2008 - 10:58 PM WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The struggling Los Angeles Dodgers' bullpen got a bit deeper Thursday, when the team activated rookie righthander Cory Wade from the 15-day disabled list.

Wade had been one of the team's most reliable relievers before being sidelined with right shoulder inflammation on August 9. In 40 appearances, the 25-year-old Wade has gone 2-1 with a 2.56 ERA.

In a corresponding move, the Dodgers designated Tanyon Sturtze for assignment. The veteran righthander tossed 2 1/3 innings in three relief appearances without giving up a run after having his contract purchased his contract from Class AAA Las Vegas on August 14.
