Dodgers option LHP Kershaw to minors
Aug 30, 2008 - 12:04 AM PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday optioned lefthander Clayton Kershaw to Class AAA Las Vegas.Kershaw, 20, is 2-5 with a 4.56 ERA in 16 starts over two stints with Los Angeles this season.
The Dodgers' top pitching prospect was 2-3 with a 3.59 ERA through 14 starts but was roughed up in his last two outings, going 0-2 with a 15.71 ERA.
To take his place on the roster, the Dodgers purchased the contract of lefthander Scott Elbert from Class AA Jacksonville. In 25 appearances - including one start - with the Suns, the 23-year-old went 4-1 with a 2.40 ERA.
