Padres recall C Carlin
Sep 2, 2008 - 11:54 PM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The San Diego Padres recalled catcher Luke Carlin from Class AAA Portland prior to Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.Carlin, 27, is hitting .154 with one home run and six RBI in 33 games with San Diego this season. In 31 games with Portland, Carlin hit .261 with four homers and 19 RBI.
The Padres also purchased the contract of outfielder Chip Ambres from Portland.
Ambres hit .279 with 22 homers and 77 RBI in 112 games with the Beavers. The 28-year-old also went 2-for-17 in eight games for the Padres earlier this season.
