Dodgers recall LHP Kershaw

Sep 3, 2008 - 1:59 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled lefthander Clayton Kershaw from Class AAA Las Vegas and slated him to start Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres.

Kershaw recently rattled off five straight brilliant starts, allowing five runs overall, but fizzled in last two. The 20-year-old lefthander surrendered 11 runs and 12 hits in 6 1/3 innings against the Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals, respectively, before being optioned to Las Vegas on Friday.

Highly regarded as the club's top pitching prospect, he is 2-5 with a 4.56 ERA in 16 starts this season.
