Jeter ties Ruth on Yankees' all-time hit list
Sep 7, 2008 - 10:01 PM SEATTLE (Ticker) -- New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter stroked his 2,518th career hit in Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners to tie Babe Ruth for second place on the team's all-time list.Jeter, who also homered in the first for his 1,000th career RBI, singled up the middle in the third off Mariners starter Ryan Feierabend to join the legendary Ruth, who also is third in major league history with 714 career home runs.
Lou Gehrig is the Yankees' hit leader with 2,721 hits.
