Rodriguez, Hunter each suspended two games
Sep 10, 2008 - 10:45 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Ivan Rodriguez and Torii Huntrer each received two-game suspensions and were fined for their roles in an altercation earlier this week, Major League Baseball announced Wednesday.In Monday's game between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels of Anahem, Rodriguez took an openhanded swing at Hunter - and missed - after getting shoved in the back by the Angels star following a play at the plate in the sixth inning. The benches emptied and players spilled onto the field, pushing and shoving.
With both players serving the first game of their suspensions Wednesday, the Angels pulled out a 4-2 win over the Yankees in the conclusion of their three-game series.
In addition, Angels righthander John Lackey also was fined an undisclosed amount.
