Reds get RHP Owings to complete Dunn deal

Sep 12, 2008 - 8:07 PM PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Cincinnati Reds acquired pitcher Micah Owings from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday to complete the Adam Dunn trade.

Trying to make a postseason push, the Diamondbacks picked up Dunn on August 11 from the Reds for pitcher Dallas Buck and two players to be named, who were later identified as utility player Wilkin Castillo and Owings.

Owings went 6-9 with a 5.93 ERA in 22 games - 18 starts - this season.

The 25-year-old righthander, however, has struggled since his 4-0 start to the campaign. He is yet to have a winning month since April.

Owings also provides a little bonus at the plate for a pitcher, batting .313 with five home runs and 18 RBI in 112 at-bats over his two-year career.

Owings will be available for the Reds in Friday night's game against the Diamondbacks.
