Fielder named NL Player of Week
Sep 22, 2008 - 6:52 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder on Monday was named the National League Player of the Week.Last week, Fielder led the NL with 27 total bases and tied for the league lead with 12 hits, six doubles and 11 RBI. He also batted .462 with three homers and scored six runs.
Fielder, who currently has a 12-game hitting streak, recorded four multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games last week. The 24-year-old went 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double and three RBI at Wrigley Field on Tuesday, then collected three hits, including a pair of doubles and three RBI on the following day at Chicago.
Also considered for the honor were Fielder's teammate J.J. Hardy and Florida's Alfredo Amezaga, John Baker, Jorge Cantu, Mike Jacobs and Cameron Maybin.
