Rangers IF Vazquez suspended for one game

Sep 24, 2008 - 5:48 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Major League Baseball on Wednesday suspended Texas Rangers infielder Ramon Vazquez for one game.

Vazquez also was fined an undisclosed amount for his "aggressive and inappropriate" actions during the seventh inning of Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Vazquez was ejected for arguing balls and strikes.

"The third-strike calls on (German) Duran and I were clearly off the plate," Vazquez said Sunday. "Those calls were (bad). If you're tired at the end of the year, go home. We're trying to play to finish in second place here."

The suspension was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon against the Oakland Athletics, but Vazquez filed an appeal.
