Snow to retire with Giants
Sep 25, 2008 - 3:35 AM SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- First baseman J.T. Snow will sign a contract with the San Francisco Giants and retire as a member of the team following Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.A six-time Gold Glove Award winner, Snow played for the Giants from 1997-2005 and helped them reach the World Series in 2002. He ranks in the top 15 in franchise history in several offensive categories, including home runs (14th with 124), batting average (12th - .273) and RBI (eighth - 615).
Snow, who currently is a special assistant in San Francisco's front office, will be making his first appearance on the field since June 16, 2006 while with the Boston Red Sox.
The 40-year-old owns a .268 lifetime average with 189 home runs and 877 RBI in parts of 15 seasons with the New York Yankees, California Angels, Giants and Red Sox.
