Rockies RHP Vizcaino arrested on DUI charge
Oct 27, 2008 - 6:24 PM TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- Colorado Rockies pitcher Luis Vizcaino was arrested early Monday morning on a charge of driving under the influence.The 34-year-old Vizcaino was arrested at 2:22 a.m. He was released from Hillsborough County Jail shortly before noon after posing a $500 cash bond.
"Our organization was extremely disappointed to learn of the arrest of Luis Vizcaino for allegedly driving under the influence early (Monday) in Florida," the Rockies said in a statement. "We are continuing to monitor the situation and have been in contact with Luis and his representatives.
"We understand that they are working through the issues with local authorities and that Luis clearly understands the seriousness of the situation."
A resident of nearby St. Petersburg, Vizcaino went 1-2 with a 5.28 in 43 appearances for the Rockies last season.
The righthander has pitched for six major league teams in 10 seasons.
