Brewers decline option on IF Counsell
Oct 31, 2008 - 9:38 PM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Brewers declined their 2009 team option on infielder Craig Counsell on Friday, though the team says that it will continue to negotiate with the veteran journeyman and potentially bring him back.Counsell, who would have made $3.4 million in his option year, batted .226 with one home run and 14 RBI in 248 at-bats last season.
A 13-year veteran who has played for five clubs in his career, Counsell has hit .255 with 35 homers and 321 RBI in 1,285 games.
