Astros re-sign RHP Hawkins
Nov 7, 2008 - 7:25 PM HOUSTON (Ticker) -- The Houston Astros on Friday signed relief pitcher LaTroy Hawkins to a one-year, $3.5-million contract.The 35-year-old Hawkins finished the 2008 season with a 3-1 record, one save and a 3.92 ERA in 57 appearances with the Astros and New York Yankees.
Acquired along with cash considerations on July 30 from the Yankees for minor league infielder Matt Cusick, Hawkins went 2-0 with one save and a 0.43 ERA over 24 contest for Houston.
The righthander did not allow an earned run in his first 22 games (19 innings) for the Astros, tying the fourth-longest streak in club history.
