Padres promote Dave Winfield
Nov 10, 2008 - 10:34 PM SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- The San Diego Padres announced Monday that Dave Winfield has been promoted to executive vice president/senior advisor.The team also promoted Paul DePodesta to vice president and Fred Uhlman Jr. to vice president/assistant to the general manager.
Winfield, who in 2001 became the first player to enter the Hall of Fame as a Padre, has been a member of the Padres' board of directors for the last eight years. He assumed the role of vice president/senior advisor in May 2002.
DePodesta, 35, joined the Padres in July 2006 as special assistant for baseball operations.
Uhlman, 41, has been with the Padres as the assistant to the general manager in January 1996.
