The Tigers and Everett have agreed to a one-year, $1 million deal plus incentives, according to multiple published reports.

Known as one of the best defensive shortstops in the game, Everett hit .213 in 127 at-bats with the Minnesota Twins last season and is a career .246 hitter in parts of eight seasons.

Earlier in the day, Detroit acquired catcher Gerald Laird from the Texas Rangers in exchange for a pair of minor league pitchers.
