Cubs, Gaudin agree to contract
Dec 12, 2008 - 10:18 PM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Cubs and righthander Chad Gaudin avoided salary arbitration Friday by agreeing to a one-year contract.Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Gaudin was acquired by Chicago from Oakland in a six-player deal on July 8 last season. In 24 relief appearances with the Cubs, the 25-year-old went 4-2 with a 6.26 ERA, missing approximately three weeks with a back injury.
The six-year veteran posted a 5-3 record and a 3.59 ERA with the Athletics before being shipped to Chicago. Guadin is 28-25 in 185 career appearances - 50 starts - with a 4.45 ERA.
