Reds sign LHP Rhodes to a two-year deal
Dec 13, 2008 - 12:19 AM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- The Cincinnati Reds on Friday signed lefthander Arthur Rhodes to a two-year contract.Financial terms were not announced, but mlb.com is reporting the contract to be worth $4 million.
Rhodes, 39, finished last season with the Florida Marlins after being acquired from the Seattle Mariners at the trade deadline. He finished the season with a combined 4-1 record, two saves and a 2.04 ERA.
Rhodes dominated lefthanded hitters, holding them to a .167 batting average.
He owns a 79-61 career record with 32 saves and a 4.23 ERA with six teams over 16 seasons.
Rhodes will serve as Cincinnati's replacement for lefthander Jeremy Affeldt, who signed with the San Francisco Giants as a free agent earlier in the offseason.
