Brewers sign LHP Capuano to minor league deal
Dec 16, 2008 - 4:48 PM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday signed lefthander Chris Capuano to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training as a non-roster player.Capuano, 30, missed the entire 2008 season after undergoing "Tommy John" surgery. He is 42-48 with a 4.39 ERA in 124 career games - 116 starts - over five seasons.
A budding star after posting an 18-12 record and 3.99 ERA in 2005, Capuano made the National League All-Star team the following year. He started the 2007 campaign 5-0 before failing to earn a win in his final 22 appearances, finishing with a 5-12 record and 5.10 ERA.
Capuano briefly became a free agent Friday when the Brewers chose not to tender him a contract for next season.
