Padres, OF Gerut agree on one-year deal
Dec 19, 2008 - 10:52 PM SAN DIEGO (Ticker) - The San Diego Padres on Friday agreed to terms on a one-year contract with outfielder Jody Gerut, team general manager Kevin Towers announced.Gerut, 31, hit .296 with 14 home runs and 43 RBI in 100 games in his first season with the Padres and his first year in the major leagues since 2005.
Originally signed by the Colorado Rockies in 1998, Gerut has hit .271 with 48 home runs and 183 RBI in 420 games with the Cleveland Indians, Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates and Padres (2008).
