Marlins sign RHP Proctor

Jan 6, 2009 - 8:20 PM MIAMI (Ticker) -- The Florida Marlins continued their bullpen makeover, officially signing righthander Scott Proctor to a one-year contract on Tuesday.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Miami Herald reported this past weekend that the deal is worth $750,000, with an additional $250,000 in performance incentives.

The veteran righthander made 41 appearances with the Los Angeles Dodgers last season, posting a 2-0 record and a 6.05 ERA. Proctor has pitched in 262 career games since his debut in 2004 with the New York Yankees.

Florida has already parted ways with former closer Kevin Gregg, as well as Joe Nelson and Arthur Rhodes, this offseason. Matt Lindstrom is expected to take over the role of closer, with Proctor providing an experienced presence in an otherwise young bullpen.
