Giants sign IF Aurilia to minor league deal
Feb 10, 2009 - 12:25 AM SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- The San Francisco Giants on Monday signed veteran infielder Rich Aurilia to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Aurilia batted .283 with 10 home runs and 52 RBI in 140 games with the Giants last season.
The 37-year-old Aurilia, who has spent 11 of his 14 major league seasons in San Francisco - including each of his last two years, ranks sixth on the club's all-time list with 1,200 hits and 1,232 games played.
Aurilia owns a .277 batting average with 299 doubles, 184 home runs and 740 RBI in 1,592 career games with the Giants, Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres and Cincinnati Reds.
