Diamondbacks avoid arbitration with 1B/OF Jackson

Feb 18, 2009 - 3:51 AM PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday signed first baseman-outfielder Conor Jackson to a one-year contract, avoiding arbitration.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Arizona Republic is reporting the pact to be worth $3.05 million.

Jackson hit .300 with 12 homers and 75 RBI in 144 games last season.

The 26-year-old owns a career average of .287 with 44 home runs and 222 RBI in 454 games over parts of four major league seasons.
