Report: Cousin who supplied A-Rod with steroids identified

Feb 19, 2009 - 7:55 AM BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) -- The cousin of Alex Rodriguez who supplied the New York Yankees' third baseman with performance-enhancing drugs has been identified, according to a report posted late Wednesday night on ESPN.com.

According to the web site, Yuri Sucart was the family member Rodriguez was referring to when he said during a nationally televised news conference on Tuesday that he obtained performance-enhancing drugs and was injected by his cousin.

A producer for ESPN Deportes went to Sucart's house in Miami, but no one answered when they knocked on the door. After calling the house from a telephone, a woman who identified herself as Sucart's wife answered and confirmed that it was her husband that Rodriguez was referring to during the press conference.

Carmen Sucart informed the producer that Rodriguez had given enough information about her husband during the press conference.

"I told you my husband has nothing to say," Carmen Sucart told the web site. "What A-Rod said at the press conference is what happened and that is all. And if you want to talk to my husband, why don't you talk to his lawyer?"

This is not the first time Yuri Sucart has been connected to Rodriguez.

As reported by the New York Post on July 20, 2008, Yuri Sucart was added to a Florida hotel reservation set up by "brawny stripper" Joslyn Morse, who along with A-Rod's female friend Alicia Marie, were spotted with the Yankees' slugger on the night of December 11, 2006 heading to a fifth-floor suite reserved at the Mutiny Hotel in Coconut Grove.
