Orioles put 3B Mora, RHP Simon on DL
Apr 15, 2009 - 11:12 PM ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) -- The Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday placed third baseman Melvin Mora and righthander Alfredo Simon on the 15-day disabled list.Mora is suffering from a strained left hamstring, while Simon has discomfort in his right elbow.
Sidelined since Sunday, Mora is hitting .313 (5-for-16) with one home run and seven RBI in five games this season. Simon, who lasted just 1 1/3 innings in Tuesday's start due to his injury, is 0-1 with a 9.95 ERA in two outings.
The Orioles recalled righthanders Matt Albers and Radhames Liz from Class AAA Norfolk to fill the roster spots.
Albers began the season with Baltimore, allowing one run in 2 2/3 innings over three games before being optioned to Norfolk. Liz went 6-6 with a 6.72 ERA in 15 starts for the Orioles last campaign.
