Bucks G Redd out 4-6 weeks; F Villanueva to miss one week

Jan 8, 2007 - 11:14 PM DENVER (Ticker) -- The injury bug has hit the Milwaukee Bucks once again. Unfortunately, this time it has bitten Michael Redd.

The Bucks announced Monday that Redd will be sidelined four to six weeks with a strained patellar tendon in his left knee.

Redd, who suffered the injury in Saturday's 95-86 loss to Cleveland, leads Milwaukee in scoring at 27.7 points per game - the fifth-highest mark in the NBA.

The 6-6 Redd is the third Bucks starter to miss significant time this season. Small forward Bobby Simmons has missed the entire campaign with an injured right ankle, which required season-ending surgery in early December.

Power forward Charlie Villanueva has missed 13 games with a variety of minor injuries. The 6-11 forward, who averages 12.7 points per game, currently is sidelined with tendinitis in his right shoulder. He received a cortisone shot Monday afternoon and will be sidelined for at least another week.

The Bucks, who have lost three of their last four games, will be hard-pressed to make up for the absences of Redd and Villanueva against the Denver Nuggets on Monday.

Aside from finding a consistent source of offense, Milwaukee also will be faced with the task of containing Denver superstar guard Allen Iverson, who is third in the league in scoring at 29.5 points per game.
