Nuggets F Anthony, Wade named NBA Players of the Week

Feb 12, 2007 - 8:30 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Carmelo Anthony is finding his game again.

The star forward of the Denver Nuggets on Monday was named the NBA's Western Conference Player of the Week.

Miami Heat All-Star guard Dwyane Wade captured honors in the Eastern Conference.

It is the third Player of the Week award this season for Anthony, the league's leading scorer at 30.9 points per game. He has six Player of the Week awards overall in three-plus seasons.

Anthony made headlines earlier this season, drawing a 15-game suspension for his role in a brawl with the New York Knicks. He returned from the ban on January 22.

Originally left off the All-Star team, Anthony was named as an injury replacement by NBA commissioner David Stern on Friday.

Anthony averaged 30.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists last week, helping the Nuggets to a 2-2 mark.

Wade, who won the award for the second time this season, averaged 27.5 points and 8.8 assists in helping the defending champion Heat to a 3-1 mark last week.
