NBA suspends Pistons F Wallace one game

Mar 25, 2007 - 4:57 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Detroit Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace on Sunday was suspended one game without pay by the NBA for exceeding the league's technical-foul rule.

The volatile Wallace was handed his league-high 18th technical foul of the season Friday in the second quarter of a 90-89 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

Wallace will serve his suspension Sunday afternoon when the Pistons visit the Milwaukee Bucks.

Wallace, who has a notorious propensity to rack up technical fouls over his career, prompted the NBA's new rule stating that any player or coach will receive a one-game suspension after receiving his 16th technical foul.

Every other technincal foul a player picks up after his 16th will also result in a one-game suspension without pay. Wallace was suspended for Detroit's game against the Los Angeles Clippers on March 11 after receiving his 16th technical of the season.

The 6-11 Wallace is averaging 12.6 points and 7.8 rebounds in 62 games this season for the Pistons (43-25), who own the best record in the Eastern Conference.
