Mavs re-sign Carlisle
May 15, 2012 - 6:58 PM Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - The Dallas Mavericks announced on Tuesday that they have agreed to a new contract with head coach Rick Carlisle.The original four-year contract signed by Carlisle, who guided the Mavericks to the NBA championship last spring, was set to expire on July 1.
"We are excited that Rick will be back with the Mavericks for at least the next four years," said club owner Mark Cuban in a release. "He is a proven winner, a great teacher and a coach that will help the Mavericks improve as a team and as an organization."
Carlisle has led the Mavs to a 198-114 regular season record over his four campaigns on the bench and has compiled a 23-18 mark in the postseason.
Dallas was swept in the first round of the 2012 playoffs by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Prior to his head coaching position in Dallas, Carlisle was at the helm for two seasons with Detroit and four with Indiana. He was the league's Coach of the Year in 2001-02 when he guided the Pistons to a 50-win season and has an overall mark of 479-325.
